Happy New Year 2012

The year Two Thousand and Twelve has arrived.
Some say this is the end of the world.
Others predict it will be the beginning of a new awareness.
We have just lived through a challenging and eventful year
And it certainly will be another year with lots happening.
But what is the use worrying about the future?

We need to live today the best we can
And create causes for a better tomorrow.
Let us celebrate the freedom of choice that we have.
Who says I cannot make a difference?
I can make a difference to myself and around me.
Isn’t that making enough difference to my world?

My mind goes to those brave men and women
Who offered their lives as lamps for the freedom of others.
My heart is moved by those who came forward to help
People in distress through natural or man-made calamities.
Human spirit of compassion, courage and longing for freedom,
Neither can be crushed by power nor bought with gold.

Let us celebrate that undying human spirit!

Happy New Year.

Ringu Tulku

Rinpoche has been coming to the UK and offering teachings now for over 20 years.  So perhaps the time is at last ripe to establish a Bodhicharya centre here.  Many blessings might come out of this - not least would be that Rinpoche would have his own centre where his students could come and hear his teachings.  As well as this it could be a place for ongoing retreats (both private and with different teachers) as well as the base for a community of practitioners.  Rinpoche has asked me to be the resident monk and teacher.
If you might be interested in this then please go to the new community we have started http://bodhicharya.intouch.net/pg/groups/51701/bodhicharya-britain-centre/ and read more.   We already have a good group of  interested sangha  and many have offered to make donations and help in practical ways - but there will need to be more people involved to make this a reality.
With every good wish
Rinchen

I am still in Kathmandu. Earthquake in Sikkim was very devastating. So far around 80 people found dead and 300 wounded. Around 2000 buildings damaged some unliveable including the main secretariat building and some monastery buildings also. I heard that Shedra building of Rumtek is also badly damaged. People have died in Tibet, Nepal and some states of India also. It will take some time to restore everything in Sikkim. At the moment shortage of water seems to be a great problem as the water system is damaged.

Love and prayers,
RT

This is a network of individual communities to enable students of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche to communicate and work together.

This is the main network page, the main access to all the communities. It displays most of the activities from the communities within, but not all. Some things you have to visit the communities too see.

We are currently testing one community, called the Summercamp. Please click on the "Summercamp" button in the menu above to enter the community. You can then choose to "join" the community and follow its members.

The system works similar to Facebook and Twitter where you choose what and who you wish to follow or see on your "wall" ("My Page" is effectivley your wall). Therefore, the content you see on your "My Page" will be different to what others see. It all depends on what, and who, you have decided to follow.

We hope that this flexibility will allow communities to be created around different activities, locations and languages.

This is very much an experiment, so feel free to explore and share. If you have an idea for a community, just create one!
